Separation Studio NXT

The following steps by Dane Clement at Freehand Graphics can be used to generate color separations for screen printing with Separation Studio NXT:

Open a graphic is Separation Studio NXT.

Click the “Auto Adjust” button at the top of the screen.

Right click the “Final White” separation and select “Adjust Separation”. Reduce the low saturation one mark to 90.

Merge the Gray.

You can drag one color onto another using the multiply option to reduce the number of colors. Begin merging colors with the least data first.

Create a black layer for screen printing on a light shirt. The program has 3 settings to chose from: skeletal black (dark shirts), detailed black (midrange color shirts), and sharper black (light color shirts).

Before printing the separations, match the ink colors and sort order for press.
